According to Art Basel, the global art market grows annually by about 3%. This confirms how art is becoming more prominently present in interiors.

Imagine a living room with a striking accent wall filled with art in the dining area complemented by colourful accessories. The so-called gallery wall is a popular concept where you create a playful, almost chaotic look.

This famous composition is also known as the Petersburg arrangement. It owes its name to the Russian city of St. Petersburg, the home of the Tsar and his family in the early 18th century. Roughly 60,000 paintings were hanging across 350 rooms in their residence.

The Petersburg arrangement is, therefore, the favourite choice because it creates pleasant chaos. However, to maintain a sense of cohesion, it’s recommended to provide a common thread throughout the drawings/artworks. This can be achieved by using the same type of frames or colours.

Would you prefer to incorporate this interior trend more subtly? Choose one sizeable, eye-catching piece that encompasses such a gallery wall.

Be inspired by the artistic chaos
